Please see the answers below to the questions most frequently asked by
clients.  If the answer to your question is outlined below, we will not
   respond further.

We strongly recommend you do not book flights or make travel commitments
until you have a visa to travel to Australia.  The Department of
Immigration and Border Protection will not be liable for any financial
loss incurred by applicants whose visa application was finalised later
than expected or where an application is unsuccessful.

   Frequently Asked Questions

What visa should I apply for?  Where can I find information on
   Australian visas?

Information about all Australian visas and citizenship is available at
   www.border.gov.au.

Can I apply for an Australian visa online?

Many nationalities including citizens of Papua New Guinea and the
Solomon Islands can now apply for an Australian Visitor visa (subclass
   600) online.  Further information including how to apply is available
   here:
   http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/600-/Visitor-e600-visa-online-applications
   .

I can’t apply online.  How do I lodge a paper application for an
Australian visa in Papua New Guinea or the Solomon Islands?

You must submit your complete application to an Australian Visa
Application Centre, managed by TT Services.  TTS is a commercial company
working in partnership with the Australian Government to provide
Australian visa application services across the Pacific region.

Please locate your nearest office at www.ttsaustralia.com.  In addition
to the Visa Application Charge (application fee), you will also need to
pay a Service Fee for lodging your application with this office.

Where can I find Australian visa application forms?

All visa application forms, including providing consent for a child to
obtain a visa (Form 1229), updating your personal or passport details
(Form 929) and authority to receive information about someone else’s
visa application (Form 956A), are available at
   http://www.border.gov.au/about/corporate/information/forms.

How can I ask questions about the visa application process before I have
   applied?

Please direct all pre-lodgement questions to your nearest Australian
Visa Application Centre.  Contact details are available at
   www.ttsaustralia.com.

How long will it take to receive a decision on my application?

The Port Moresby office aims to exceed our global standard.  Visitor
Visa applications lodged with complete documentation will generally be
decided within ten working days from the date we receive the
application.  Transit visa applications are typically decided within two
working days.  For all other visa types, please refer to the
Department’s global service standards available at
   http://www.border.gov.au/about/access-accountability/service-standards/visa-processing
   .

How can I check the progress of my visa application?

If your visa has not been decided within our published service standard
we will respond to your email.  If processing is still within our
service standard, we are unable to provide any further updates.

Legally, we can only provide information to the visa applicant or their
nominated representative.  Please ensure your application reference
(e.g. TRN or VLN) and passport number are included in all
   correspondence.

I need an Australian Visa urgently

If your email is seeking an urgent decision on a visa application for
any reason, please accept this email as receipt and acknowledgement of
your request.  If we are able to assist, we shall contact you seeking
further information.  Generally, the department is not in a position to
decide a visa application in advance of our service standards.

Checking the status of an existing Australian Visa

If you wish to obtain details of your existing visa (or send them to
another person by e-mail) then you may wish to use our Visa Entitlement
Verification On-line service (called VEVO). This is available at
   http://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Visa.
